DOG: A domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, whining, or howling voice. They are usually kept as a pet, for show, for work or field sports.
MAN’S BEST FRIEND: Referring to dogs’ close loyalty to their owners.
WHY DID GOD CREATE A DOG? Because man needed a friend, of course!
WHY GET A DOG?
I, personally, am a dog lover. No matter what you do to dogs, they will love you unconditionally. Who else is that happy to see you every time you walk in the door? Even if you were only outside for two minutes. You can teach them tricks, like catching a Frisbee. You can teach them to have manners, and no matter what, they are just absolutely certain that you love them with all your heart! Did you know that some dogs can run as fast as 45mph? People can only run 28 miles per hour. I mean, I can’t, but apparently some people can!
A LITTLE ABOUT DOGS
It’s said that dog owners are less likely to be depressed or have heart problems. There are even people that take dogs into nursing homes. They cheer those old people right up! I can say that, because I’m probably considered old by some people (my grandchildren all think I am!). And then there are the service dogs. It used to be that there were only seeing eye dogs for the blind. Now a days, there are dogs being trained to help people with practically any ailment there is! And don’t forget about guard dogs. They’re trained to protect their owners and their property, while still remaining friendly and loving to their owners. Dogs are amazing.
I’ve got two dogs of my own; Patches and Buddy. Love them to death. They’re both mutts. Patches is 3 years old. He has some kind of hound dog in him. He’s small, but sturdy, and he has a really deep bark. He howls a lot. He weighs about 40 pounds. Buddy is 7 years old. He’s part Cocker Spaniel and part Shetland Sheep Dog (Shelty). He’s got long hair, so he requires a little more work than Patches. He weighs around 45 pounds.
Buddy is a delicate little thing. He’s my professional melter. If he even thinks you’re going to pet him, he just melts into the floor and rolls over, waiting for belly rubs. He’s also the barker in the family. He doesn’t like to go outside when Patches goes.
Patches is a rough and tumble kind of guy. He just wants to play. All.The.Time. When Buddy doesn’t want to go outside with him, he just stands at the door barking at him. When Buddy goes outside by himself, Patches steals whatever treat Buddy happened to be guarding at the time. He’s the ornery one! 🙂
